Kashmir: Two policemen as well as two civilians have been killed in a militant attack in Sopore area of North Kashmir. Three more policemen have also got injured including an assistant sub inspector after militants carried a major attack on security forces in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The militants attacked the police party who were on Covid19 duty at Arampora area in the Sopore town. Three police personnel including a assistant sub inspector were injured in the attack, Two more civilians were also injured in the attack.
Meanwhile civilian killed have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Shallah of Shalimar Colony Sopore and Bashir Ahmad of Mahrajpora Sopore.
The policemen killed in the attack have been also identified as Showkat Ahmad son of Abdul Gani Parray of Goripora, Beerwah, Budgam and Constable Waseem Ahmad son of Mohammad Sadiq Bhat of Narbal Srinagar. The injured cop Mukesh Kumar has been referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment. The other injured police personnel has been identified as SPO Danish.
The whole area has been cordoned off and a massive hunt has been launched by the security forces to nab the attackers. Senior police officers have reached the spot and are taking overall view of the situation.
It is presumed that militant outfit Lashker-e-Toiba was behind the attack.
