Kashmir: Two soldiers got martyred in a gunfight with terrorists while conducting an anti-terror operation in the forests of the Kokernag subdivision in J&K’s Anantnag district

Srinagar (Kashmir): Two soldiers got martyred during an intense gun battle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, which also left a soldier and two civilians injured.  Hawaldar Dilip Kumar Yadav and Lance Naik Praveen Sharma from Himachal laid their lives in this encounter. Police reported that the encounter began this afternoon in the Ahlan Gadol area of Anantnag district.
The terrorists ambushed an army patrol conducting an anti-terror operation in the forests of the Kokernag subdivision. The army’s special forces, including paratroopers, are engaged in the operation to eliminate the terrorists, who are suspected to be foreigners.
This incident is the second major encounter in the Kokernag area in the past year. In September 2023, a similar operation in the Kokernag forest resulted in the deaths of a Commanding Officer, a Major, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Two civilians have also been reported injured due to indiscriminate and reckless firing by terrorists in the ongoing operation. They have received immediate medical aid and have been evacuated. The operation is ongoing.
