Jammu and Kashmir: “My Town My Pride” way towards building public trust, strengthening relationship with people – M Raju, Visited Pulwama, interacted with delegations & individuals
Kashmir, Pulwama: “My Town My Pride is a way towards building public trust and strengthening relationship with people,” stated Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, M Raju said while addressing the public during ‘My Town My Pride’ programme in Pulwama.
He said that My Town My Pride is aimed to improve service delivery and redress the public grievances within the shortest possible time and achieve cent percent saturation of beneficiary oriented schemes. He added that the purpose behind this programme is to strengthen the roots of good governance in J&K and empower the common people.
During the visit, Raju inspected the stalls installed by different departments and enquired about the grievances redressal mechanism being adopted to satisfy public needs and aspirations.
He also distributed sports kits among the school children besides giving away income and domicile certificates to beneficiaries. He also handed over Baby Kits to newly born girl children under BBBP besides distributing sanction letters under Ladli Beti Scheme and wheel chairs, hearing aids, walking sticks among the persons with disabilities. M Raju also interacted with hundreds of people who visited the town hall and listened to their issues and grievances.
A delegation from Pulwama Town raised the issue of beautification of their town, choking of Dhobi Khol, macadamization of internal roads and modernization of district hospital whereas a delegation from Gangoo demanded the settlement of pending dues of compensation related to ring road.
A delegation from Babagund demanded proper drinking water facility besides compensation under land acquisition by Jal Shakti Department.
A delegation from business community Pulwama raised the issue of Jal Shakti Scheme, sanctioning of Community hall and connectivity between Bus Adda and Rajpora road. They also raised the issue of completion of AIIMS and establishment of University in Pulwama with the Secretary. A Youth delegation from Parigam raised the issue of play field with the Secretary. M Raju gave patient hearing to all the delegations and assured them that all issues will be settled in minimum possible time.
Meanwhile, My Town My Pride was also held in municipalities of the district where detailed discussion was held regarding different development projects besides issues being faced by the common masses of different municipalities. The visiting officers including Executive Director JKEDI, GM Dar and Director Sheep Husbandry, Dr. Salaam visited Municipal committees Tral and Pampore respectively and listened to demands and issues of the people. On the occasion, many grievances were solved on the spot and rest were forwarded to the concerned departments for prompt redress through an established tracking system.
Later, Secretary inaugurated a volleyball match between school students besides witnessing a painting competition regarding various themes having relevance with town development. He also distributed mementoes and certificates among the winners besides cheques among SHGs under NULM. M Raju was accompanied by Distrct Development Commissioner, Pulwama, Dr. Raghav Langer.
