Kulgam: Four terrorists have been neutralised while two Army soldiers got martyred in twin encounters in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
In Modergam village of Kulgam district, security forces launched a cordon and search operation based on intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the village. As the forces went close, hiding terrorists opened fire at them resulting in injuries to a soldier who later got martyred.
After two hours, another gunfight broke out in the Frisal Chinnigam area of Kulgam district in which drone footage showed four bodies of terrorists lying in the compound of a house where the exchange took place. Security forces received an input about the movement following which the target house was surrounded and from inside the house gunfire was drawn; The encounter is still going on in Chinnigam,” VK Birdi, IGP Kashmir, told the media near the encounter spot adding that the bodies had been sighted.
One para commando in Modergam and one Havaldar of the Army in Frisal village got martyred in action. More terrorists are believed to be hiding in Modergam as gunfire from inside the house continues.
